Onondowaga Hitchhiker
is a redo of the Native American Hitchhiker linoleum relief print with the main character being more Haudenosaunee (People of the Longhouse) centric. The chest and arm tattoos are representative of the body tattoos of Sa Ga Yean Qua Rah Ton, one of the ’Four Indian Kings’ who visited London in 1710. The Gusto:weh' (headgear) is my traditional Gusto:weh which I made from bird feathers I hunted, except the Eagle feather. The shield design is my design in honor and support of the Oceti Sakowin Water protectors. The tattoo on my shoulder is my design. I researched Indigenous Sun symbols and created this contemporary Sun design for the NMAI original identity package. The hands in the design are my right hand.
