Heno, the Thunderer
Heno the Thunderer is an inked and embossed linoleum relief print I pulled in 2018. In organizing my artwork files, I realized I didn’t take a photo of this print and didn’t have it cataloged in my art inventory table. Heno the Thunderer is representative of my Portrait of a Natural environment series. I refer to these compositions as a Portrait of a Natural environment because as Indigenous people we believe that the natural world has a life-giving force and spirit. In recognizing the natural world spirit, I create compositions that are reflective of a portrait with objects in the composition reflecting the eyes, nose, and mouth in the composition.
